Description
Diva is the debut solo album by Scottish singer-songwriter Annie Lennox, released in 1992 by Artista Records in the US and RCA in the UK. The album charted #1 on the UK Album Chart and #23 on the US billboard 200. The album won the Brit Award for British Album of the Year 1993, and Best British Female Artist. Annie along with director, Sophie Muller and producer, Rob Small, won the 1993 Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video.
The Eurythmics informally dissolved in 1990 and Annie gave birth to her first daughter child. In 1991 she started working with producer Stephen Lipson and wrote eight of the ten tracks to bring the album into fruition. Five singles: “Why”, “Precious”, “Walking On Broken Glass”, “Cold” and “Little Bird” became hits and the album became more successful than any of the Eurythmics studio albums. So, ultimately Annie did become a Diva.
