Description
Brain Salad Surgery is the fourth studio album by the English progressive rock band Emerson Lake & Palmer released on 19 November 1973 (MC66669) by their own record label, Manticore Records, distributed by Atlantic Records and produced by Greg Lake.
The double record album contains the epic "Karn Evil 9" composition of almost thirty minutes. Lake collaborated with lyricist Pete Sinfield. It consists of three movements, called Impressions. The most recognizable section is the second part of the first movement that contains the famous line "Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends".
The album reached No.2 in the United Kingdom and No.11 in the US. It eventually gained Gold Certification in both countries. The albums cover design by H.R. Giger is, I believe, one of the most intriguing ever
